Costa Rica Mission Trip

Because of a Google Maps error on the location of the border, Nicaragua accidentally “invaded” Costa Rica last November. Fortunately there was no conflict. If they would have used Bing Maps instead, they would have avoided the unplanned invasion!

The Ministry

You’ll work alongside Pastor Alfonso and his church in the village of Cachi, hanging out with students and visiting the surrounding villages, developing real relationships with them. You’re going to find the “Ticos” friendly and ready to talk. You will use drama, dance, or puppets to reach out through public performances in the surrounding towns. Do you like soccer? You can also choose to play soccer matches with villagers during the week and highly competitive, fast-play, futsal tournaments on the weekends.

Dates

Students: Jun 23—Jul 28, 2012 [5 wks]
Staff Disciplers: Jun 16—Jul 28, 2012 [6 wks]

The Costa Rica mission trip is 36 days (5 weeks). If you are looking for a less expensive mission trip that leaves much of June and all of your August free, Costa Rica is a great option.

Adventure

You will hike to a coffee plantation, swim in a tropical waterfall, and eat rice and beans topped with Salsa Lizano, a green salsa that they use on EVERYTHING (no kidding), in the local shops. You’ll also spend a day at a Pacific Ocean beach and, if the weather is clear, see a live volcano up close!

Spiritual Growth

When you immerse yourself in the Bible, share in discipleship groups, pray together, and worship on a daily basis, you’ll grow! That transformation will come full-circle as you share your faith, giving away to others what God is giving to you!

New Friends

Your teammates will come from across North America. You will do things together that you did not think you could do and then laugh about it that night. You will learn about each other and pray for one another with care and compassion. Your team is going to feel like family by the end of the mission trip—guaranteed!
